“Aging Supermodel” Carol Alt Adds To Playboy’s Downfall

I’ve got a bone to pick with Playboy, and this time it’s not alone in the bathroom with some Aloe Vera lotion (it’s good for the skin). You know there’s a problem with your issue when it’s readers are more excited to see the text in the cover’s title (”Video-Game Girls and Naked Twins”) then the “celebrity” Playboy model posing on the cover.
That “celebrity” being Supermodel Carol Alt who turns 48 in just a couple of weeks. The blue eyed beauty was one of the most sought after models in the 80’s after being featured on the cover of 1982’s Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. She is probably best known from this Hanes underwear commercial, and this Vintage Poster

Today, most people (especially those NOT EVEN BORN when her SI cover came out) probably know Carol from her appearance as a contestant on NBC’s 2008 The Celebrity Apprentice, where she competed for her charity, the Tony Alt Memorial Foundation, and ended up in third place before being fired. Also, you might know her thanks to her relationship with former New York Islander Alexei Yashin, whose outrageous salary hike many believe was
the main reason behinda contributing factor behind the 2004-05 NHL strike. Those of you from the younger generation will probably remember scratching your heads when Stewie referenced Carol Alt as an “aging supermodel” and compared her to Brian in last week’s episode of “Family Guy” (9:48).Now, I’m all for acquiring Supermodels to pose nude for the first time as Playboy tends to do (i.e. Cindy Crawford), but why did they have to go with a Supermodel of the 80’s? Couldn’t they get one from the 90’s like Claudia Schiffer, Christie Brinkley or Tyra Banks. How about some Supermodels of the 2000’s like Gisele Bündchen, Adriana Lima or Miranda Kerr?
Don’t get me wrong Carol Alt looks absolutely amazing, even at 47, in her Playboy pictorial and I’m sure there are a lot of 30+ and 40+ men getting close and cuddly with their Aloe Vera as you’re reading this right now, but I expected more from Playboy’s last issue of 2008.
With Hugh Hefner’s aging body and mind perhaps, dare I say it, he is finally losing his once dominant grasp on what the boys and young men of America truly want and desire, that of course being celebrities (that they actually recognize) exposed. It can be the only excuse for this year’s lack luster amount of Playboy’s celebrity nudity (Maria Kanellison’s and Rachelle Leah’s perfect pictorials excluded of course).
Not even the once captive and submissive Girls Next Door are willing to stay aboard the sinking Playboy enterprise. Kendra Wilkinson, the vitality of the E! reality show, has ruined Hugh’s plans for a “Single and Sexy” spin-off show when her blabber mouth boyfriend Hank Bassett leaked the news that although Kendra is definitely “sexy” their engagement means the 23 year old blonde is far from “single”. Holly Madison has also put Hefner in her rear view mirror. The once obedient bunny branched from her position as head mistress to pursue a relationship with magician Chris Angel.
Carol claims her decision to go nude for the first time was in part due to spreading her message of how eating raw can not only make you look better but can actually make you feel better about your body as well.
“I’ve done a lot of soul-searching about this and have spoken extensively with Playboy about it. They have been amazing to work with and are embracing this message that I want to get across, which is eat healthy, look healthy and be healthy. It doesn’t matter what age you are. You can look sexy and feel great, and that doesn’t have to be a gift only for the young. It can be a gift for any age, even the old (whatever that is nowadays).”
The model deemed “The Face” in the early 80’s, and lives up to the title in her lengthy pictorial with Playboy, explained on her official website (carolalt.com) a few months ago that she feels more confident in her 40+ body now then she ever did during her 3 decades as a model:
“In reality, at my age, to know that I have come to such a point, where I am comfortable enough with my own body after 12 years of eating raw — that I actually feel better about my body at 47 than I did at 20 — is an amazing miracle in itself. I want to enlighten other people to the fact that as they age, they don’t have to start feeling worse about themselves — getting tired, getting moody, getting fat and becoming ill. There is an alternative, but the only way for people to find it is to educate themselves. One way to get them to do that is to start them talking about it. The only way I know of to encourage that kind of discussion is to do something a little… controversial.”

Don’t you think that websites like yours is the reason they would go with someone like Carol Alt? If Playboy put some young actress who I wanted to see naked I would just go to your website to see the pictures not buy the issue. However the older crowd would be more likely to buy an issue than know where to view the pictures for free. Not to mention I would wager that the 30’s to 50’s male is more their bread and butter demographic than the internet savvy 18 to 29.

Fellas, Carol Art is fucking hot. I am 24 and I have been with many older women…You don’t know what you are missing. I just wish she would have shown everything. That should be a requirement for all celebrities…Show us the goods, that’s what we all want to see. I’ll take her anyday !
