Germany’s Olympians Pose Nude For Playboy

While we here in the US patiently await Playboy magazine’s September 2008 release tomorrow, the lucky bastards over in Germany have already opened their mailboxes and have probably already begun the repetitive process of wiping saliva from their mouths.

Unlike the yarn-filled American issue which boasts a clothed Anna Faris on the cover as the feature pictorial, Germany’s issue will feature four separate nude pictorials for four different female athletes, all competing at this year’s Olympic games.

Here’s a little summery of the Playboy Olympians:

Petra Niemann is competing in her third Olympiad, and sailing is her game. “I’ve been working hard with my psychologist,” she told Playboy, as if to suggest this had something to do with sport or being naked.

Kayaker Nicole Reinhardt is one of Germany’s best hopes for gold in Beijing, and is grateful that her sport is about technique, so the “dickere und kräftigere” (”butch”) ladies have nothing on her svelte frame.

Romy Tarangul, just 20-years-old, has sadly been eliminated from the Judo competition already. Tsk.

Katharina Scholz is a field hockey starlet, and also a WAG of ex-national hockey captain Oliver Hentschel. She isn’t the first German from her discipline to pose in the buff for the popular magazine - the hilariously-named Fanny Rinne also did so prior to the Athens Olympiad.

No word yet on whether this nude pictorial will either effect Germany’s Overall Medal Standings in the 2008 Olympics or merely add to the already long list of reasons to not take their country seriously, but you can be sure it will definitally help Germany’s Olympic TV ratings. And in the end, itsn’t that what really matters?
