I convinced myself Sherry was empowered. She’s out of prison and wants to feel good. Then I watched it and those scenes are so vulnerable and sad. If there had been less sex and nudity, it would have been more gratuitous. It tells you something about her.
About how she feels about nudity negotiations (you listening Hollywood?):
Its weird and almost sexualising when you have lawyers, producers and directors discussing which nipple will be seen. In my contract I have the final cut on my body, but I’ve never found anything I shot really objectionable.
